About Shirakami-Sanchi
Shirakami-Sanchi was first registered as a World Natural Heritage Site in Japan in December 1993.
It was evaluated as a World Heritage Site because it is a mountainous area with vast pristine natural beech forests. The beech forests have been there for over 8.000 years. It is precious that the nature still remains in its natural state. By feeling and seeing the Shirakami-Sanchi, we can learn about our relationship with nature.
